DREAMer: Steve Li

While the DREAM Act is still being considered, ICE has temporarily halted the deportation of nursing student Steve Li. Li came to the United States from Peru as a young child. The family applied for asylum, but the application was denied. He and his family have been in the United States since. The is currently being discussed in the U.S. House and Senate, with talks of it being voted on during the lame duck session (before all the new congressmen and senators take their seats in January). In a nutshell, the DREAM Act would help those in Steve's situation: children brought to the United States, of good moral character who are either attending college or serve in the military. If you believe in the DREAM, contact your congressman (or woman) and also U.S. Senators.
