What Does An Illegal Immigrant Look Like?

Remember the question raised to Jan Brewer in the Arizona commotion of SB 1070? What does an illegal immigrant look like? Well, the truth of the matter is, no one knows. Sure, many illegal immigrants are from Mexico. The numbers are indisputable.

But common logic also dictates that Mexican heritage doesn't make a person an illegal immigrant. From appearances it's impossible to tell the legal from the illegal immigrant; the citizen from the non-citizen.

What if they can't speak English well? Does the inability to speak English well mean a person can't be a citizen? While people complain that some people, "need to learn English or go home," the fact of the matter is, there is a number of American-born citizens who cannot speak the language and who have equal right to the American citizenship as "John Smith" born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Which brings us to the case of Luis Delgado. He was born in Texas. Raised in Mexico. He can't speak English well, and when he was cited for a traffic offense recently, he was held, questioned and returned to Mexico. Deported from his own country. He's back now and contemplating suing the U.S. Government for his wrongful deportation. Check out this link. So while some clever people may claim to have illegal-immigrant-radar, the truth of the matter is a citizen with a social security card, birth certificate, driver's license and American citizenship can be deported because honestly, it's impossible to tell a person's citizenship by outward appearance.
